H. Richard Shingleton 1918 ~ 2006 H. Richard Shingleton, 87, met his wife who took him to his heavenly home on August 31, 2006 after suffering complications from diabetes. Richard was born October 25, 1918 to Isaac Shingleton and Mary McLaughlin and was the last of nine children. An Elder in the LDS Church, he directed plays and was a teacher. He was a graduate of West High, LDS Business College, and the University of Utah earning business degrees. He served as a stenographer in the US Army during World War II . His employment spanned more than 30 years of government service including the IRS as a revenue officer. He married Evelyn Johnson on July 3, 1941. They had two children. Richard was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He loved his family and organized many reunions. He played the drums in his own orchestra until 1982. Richard enjoyed theater, movies, and travel. Survivors include daughter, Deanna White (Larry) and son, Kevin R. Shingleton (Cheryl); grandchildren, Lawrence D White (Cheryl), Esther and Andrew Shingleton; and great grandchildren, Brayden, Chase, Jaxon, and Landon White. Funeral services will be at Russon Brothers Salt Lake Mortuary, 255 S 200 E, at l:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 5, 2006 where friends may call prior to services from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Special thanks to the staff of SLC Regional Medical Center, Federal Heights Care Center, and Inspirational Hospice for their tender care.
