Christine Nelson, age 82, of Stockbridge, Georgia died Friday, September 2, 2005.

Ms. Nelson was born in Stockbridge, the daughter of the late James Leotis and Etta Lee Pair Adamson. She always wanted to help others; even in death her desire was for her body to be donated to Emory University. She was known for her work with the Lions Club, collecting over 5000 pairs of glasses. She distributed food, provided transportation and every Sunday delivered flowers to the elderly and the shut-ins. She loved to travel and had driven to every state except Hawaii. She was the secretary for 25 years of the Happy Hour Club, a member of the Jolly Sixties at Liberty Baptist Church, and taught the 5 and 6 year old children at the First Baptist Church of Stock-bridge where she has been a member since 1949.

She is survived by her son, Raford Chambers of Stock-bridge; grandchildren, Ben Chambers, Brian Chambers, Bartow Chambers, and Lynn Evans; great-grandchildren, Char-lie Evans and Marie Evans, all of Stockbridge; sisters-in-law, Elsie Mae Adamson of Stockbridge, and Phyllis Chambers of Jefferson.

Services were held Monday, September 5 in the chapel of Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors, with Rev. Steve Murell officiating. Interment Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers and food, the family requests that you make donations to your favorite charity. Those who wish may sign the on-line guest registry at www.cannon-cleveland.com. Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.
