Christian was an early settler in Wayne County, Ohio. Settled there about 1827. The earliest recorded settlement taking place in 1813. Christian built his brick home there in 1841. He had a brick kiln on the farm. In 1846, he was injured while working a team of horses on his farm. He died as a result of the injuries. His wife accompanied some of their children to settle in Elkhart, Indiana after his death.

Christian is the son of Jacob and Elizabeth Holdeman.
