Dorothy Mae (Todd) Hazel, 83, Columbus, formerly of Bloomington, Ind., went to be with the Lord on Friday, Nov. 20, 2009, at Four Seasons Health Care Center in Columbus, Ind.

Dorothy was born in Bloomington on Nov. 1, 1926, the daughter of Lobie and Lizzie (Dewar) Todd. She married Wayne A. Hazel on Nov. 24, 1950.

She was a graduate of University High School of Bloomington in 1945.

She retired in 1986 from Public Service Indiana. She enjoyed her family, friends, traveling, embroidering and playing with her grand-dog, Sophie. She was well known for her cooking and baking skills. Dorothy was an avid Indiana University basketball fan. She attended St. Paul United Methodist Church until her health declined.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on April 27, 1987; brothers, Lloyd, Floyd, James, Wayne, Gilbert and Alva Todd of Bloomington; sisters, Opal Butcher, Beryl Dick, of Bloomington, and Thelma Sipes, of Columbus; several nieces, nephews, brother- and sister-in-laws.

Survivors include her daughters, Pam (Ron) Bunch, of Bedford, and Beth Hazel, of Columbus; two grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at the Day Funeral Home on Monday from 4–8 p.m. Services will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. also at the Day Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Valhalla Memory Gardens.
