According to a marriage document, Joel Jackson Clark married Hester Jane Goodwin on the 29th of Feb. 1864. The marriage took place at Hester's mother's home on Poor Mountain Rd., Salem, Roanoke County, VA. He stated he was 24 yrs. old, making his birth year around 1841. Joel stated that he was a farmer and soldier with residence in Cobb, County, GA. His parents were Daniel and Mary Clark. The marriage was performed by Rev. William Logwood Hatcher.
