Evelyn Frances Janek, of Waco, passed away Friday, May 2, 2014, at St. Catherine Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, May 5, at St. Louis Catholic Church in Waco with Father John Guzaldo as Celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in West. Visitation will begin at 4 p.m., with Rosary at 5:30 p.m., Sunday, May 4, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel.

Evelyn was born April 10, 1928, in West, to George and Sophie Ferguson. She attended West public schools. Evelyn and Albin Janek were married on November 18, 1946. Being a loving mother and homemaker, her family was the joy of her life. After raising her family, she held several positions in the food service industry, including manager of the City Club of Waco, St. Mary's Catholic School and Waco ISD. Evelyn was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church in Waco.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 42 years, Albin Janek; brother, Edward Ferguson; and grandson, Matthew Wright.

She is survived by her children, Mary Karlik and husband, Carlton, of Plano, Texas, Charles Janek and wife, Susan, of Waco, Carolyn DeVere and husband, Robert, of Severna Park, Maryland and Monica Wright and husband, Danny, of Waco; grandchildren, Marcus DeVere and wife, Ellen, Allison DeVere, Jeff Karlik and wife, Laura, and Natalie Farst and husband, Travis; great-grandchildren, Ryan, Mallory and Ellison Karlik; sister, Lucille Cervenka and husband, Robert; brother, Charles Ferguson; several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Honorary pallbearers are her grandsons and great-grandson.
