Robert W. Plsek, Sr., age 71 of 608 N. Marable, West, passed away Sunday, June 14, 1987 at Grand Canyon, Arizona while on vacation.

Rosary was recited at 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 17, 1987 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption by Rev. Gregory McLaughlin.

Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 18 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption with Rev. Ray Widacki as Celebrant, assisted by Rev. Gregory McLaughlin and Rev. William Spong.

Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Mr. Plsek was born February 24, 1916 in Tours, son of Tom and Agnes Plsek. He married Willa Ann Zatopek April 19, 1944. She died Oct. 18, 1969. He was later married to Irene Kostohryz in Nov. 1971, in Abbott.

He was a retired automobile mechanic and owner/operator of the Alamo Package Store.

He was a member and former Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus No. 2305. He was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign War Post No. 4819 and American Legion No. 478, a former member of the West Volunteer Fire Department and former president of the West Band Booster Club.

He was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, where he served as an usher. He was a master sergeant in the Army Air Corps in World War II.

He was active in the Boys Little League and was one of the organizers of the first little league programs in West. He was also a former Boy Scout scoutmaster.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Bob Plsek of Waco, and Tom (T.J.) Plsek of Boston, Mass.; a stepson, Ted Kostohryz of Waco; two stepdaughters, Jeanette Chadwick of Fair Oaks, Calif. and Debbie Robertson of Abbott; a brother, Edward Plsek of West; two sisters, Mrs. Helen Wilcox of Port Arthur and Mrs. Alice (Tootsie) Vincent of Bryan; and 10 grandchildren.

Pallbearers are Eric Kostohryz, Steve Chadwick, Jim Robertson, Eric Robertson, Henry Snokhous, and Cecil Sullins.

Honorary pallbearers are Ian King, Sean Kostohryz, Robby Plsek, Sherri Chadwick, Tonya Plsek, Kelly Robertson, members of the West Volunteer Fire Department, and members of V.F.W. Post No. 4819.

Aderhold Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
