Funeral services for Mrs. LIDIA C. PADGETT, 83, widow of the late J. W. PADGETT, were held at the chapel of Scott Brothers Funeral Home here Monday afternoon with Rev. JOHN RAYMOND officiating. Mrs. Padgett died Sunday at the home of a daughter Mrs. L.B. WOOD at Duncan, Oklahoma, after an illness of two months.
She was born July 1, 1868 at Warrenton, Marshall County, Alabama, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. P. MORROW. She was married to the late Mr. Padgett May 13, 1883 and they moved to Texas to settle near Montague in 1897. Mr. Padgett farmed near Montague. He passed away in 1942.
Mrs. Padgett obeyed the Gospel in 1891. Children include 11 of 12 children born to the couple, as well as 44 grandchildren, 68 great-grandchildren and 17 great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers at the final rites were grandsons, ALBERT GRAHAM of Gainesville, BILL PADGETT of Saint Jo, PAUL TUCKER of El Paso, VIRGEL WOOD of Oklahoma City, BUDDY WOOD of Duncan, Okla., and AUSTIN PADGETT of Sheridan, Arkansas.
The children were: Mesdames L. B. WOOD of Duncan, Okla., J. C. GRAHAM of Gainesville, MYRTLE DOLAN of California, OLIVER TUCKER of Saint Jo, BEN HUTSON of Tulia, and Messrs. J. H. PADGETT of Saint Jo, J. F. PADGETT of Bakersfield, Calif., R. E. PADGETT of Henderson, Nevada, W. S. PADGETT of Little Rock, Arkansas, A. B. PADGETT of Bakersfield, and D. C. PADGETT of Myra.
