Amarillo,TX _ 'Globe News',Tues. - Nov. 17, 2009__Opal Evelyn Joy Carpenter, 97, of Amarillo died Sunday, Nov. 15, 2009. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Griggs-Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors Pioneer Chapel, 5400 S. Bell St., with Gene Shelburne, minister of Anna Street Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery.Opal was born March 27, 1912, in Baird, Callahan County, to C.C. and Mary E. Joy....Opal enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family, especially her nieces, Beth Rhodes and Kim Read, and her nephew, Garry Joy...a special thank you to sister-in-law Melba Joy for her years of devotion, love and care to Opal....preceded in death by her spouses, Earl Davis and George Carpenter; four brothers, Melvin C. Joy, Judge James A. Joy, Raymond S. Joy Sr. and Meade K. Joy; a sister, Verne Joy Cruse; and a beloved "adopted" nephew, Stanley Raymond Joy Jr....Survivors: sister, Elizabeth Joy Hunt of Dodson; three sons, Steve Hunt and Marina, Alan Hunt and wife Shamim and John Hunt and wife Kim; a sister-in-law, Melba S.
