, age 75 of Baxter Springs passed from this life Sunday, March 29, 2009 at Freeman Health System, Joplin, Mo.

Joyce was born February 2, 1934 in rural Columbus, Ks to the union of Charles and Ann (McBride) Ivey.

Joyce was united in marriage June 15, 1951 in Arkansas to Edward L. McClanahan.

Joyce was a graduate of Columbus High School.

After school she attended college and went to work for Dr. Claiborne office as a medical secretary. Upon his office closing in 1979, Joyce went to work for the former Baxter Springs Memorial Hospital retiring in 1997.

She is a member of the Central Christian Center, Joplin, Mo.

She is preceded in death by her parents Charles and Ann Ivey; and two half brothers.

Survivors include her husband Edward of the home; two sons Jeff McClanahan of Baxter Springs, KS, Mike McClanahan and wife Barbara of Lockport, N.Y.; one grandson Ryan McClanahan.

Private family services have been arranged.

Joyce has been entrusted to Derfelt's Baxter Chapel for cremation.
