ALFRED GEORGE BEAGLEY
Alfred George Beagley, son of William and Mary Beagley, was born Jan. 9, 1868, in Bentley, England. He died early Wednesday morning, April 28, 1954 at the Baker nursing home in Chariton following a brief illness.
He came with his parents to America in the spring of 1874 to Russell, Iowa and resided in that vicinity until the winter of 1889. He then came to Chariton which has been his home, with the exception of a few years that he lived at Albia and Lovilia.
He was married to Nora Teas on Oct. 17, 1898. She preceded him in death Oct. 18, 1949.
He was a member of the Methodist church, a 50-year member of the Knights of Pythias lodge and an original member of the Chariton Volunteer Fire Department.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. A. W. Williston of Independence, Kansas and Mrs. R. L. Mason of Des Moines, Iowa, one brother, Harry Beagley of Kansas. He also leaves four grandchildren, Ann Williston, William, Donald and Elizabeth Mason.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, April 30, 1954 at the Beardsley funeral home with the Rev. Lester Hall officiating. Graveside services were held by the K. of P. lodge at the Chariton cemetery.
