William married Nancy Bonner (Apr 6,1798-1863), the daughter of Bryant Bonner Sr. and Anna Harris Bonner. Family tradition says she is buried in New Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery, but there is no marker. They had 10 children: Joseph Willis Martin, Polly Martin, Parthena Mitchey Martin, Jane Martin, Louisa Martin, Sarah Martin, Lucinda Amanda Martin, Hester Martin, Thomas W. Martin, and Marcus Lafayette Martin. After Nancy's death William married Pamthea "Susan" Nancy Scruggs. They had three children: Green Martin, Myra Martin, and Martin E. Martin.
