Lewis was born in North Carolina. He made his way to Kentucky and settled in Caldwell County. Lewis was first in the Caldwell Co. records of 1810. Lewis married Nancy Mitchusson in 1813 in Caldwell Co. They lived in the Rock Spring section of Caldwell Co. all of their married life. Nancy was born in old South Carolina in 1792, and died in 1863 and Lewis died in 1874.
