GEORGE CABLE, 76, LIFELONG RALEIGH RESIDENT, DIES

George Cable, 76, lifelong resident of Raleigh community and well known farmer and stock buyer of Raleigh and Galatia communities, died at 11 p.m. Saturday, at the home of his son Arville George Cable, near West Vienna. His wife, the former Elizabeth Stricklin, survives.

He was also the father of Cyrus Cable, Galatia RFD, Lynn Cable, Harrisburg, Mrs. Fred Massey, Decatur, and Mrs. Fred Wasson, Carrier Mills.

Mr. Cable was the last of a family of six children, being the brother of the late Tom Cable of Raleigh, W. T. Cable, Mrs. Otis Dixon and Mrs. S. A. Anderson, all of Harrisburg, and Radney Cable, Paragould, Ark.

He was a member of the Raleigh Masonic lodge, receiving his 50 year pin in 1948, and was also a member of the Raleigh Baptist church, where funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday by the Rev. Cloid Wesley of Eldorado, former pastor of the church. He will be assisted by the Rev. Clayton Humphrey, the present pastor, and burial with Masonic rites will be in the Masonic cemetery.

The body now lies in state at the home of his son near West Vienna. Robertson funeral home of Vienna is in charge of arrangements.
