~~~Athenian Killed In Accident~~~
ATHENS - An 81-year-old Athens man was killed instantly Friday in a car-truck collision five miles southeast of here Friday afternoon. He was identified by the Department of Public Safety as Wesley M. Reynolds.
According to the Department of Public Safety, Reynolds was crossing U.S. 175 on FM 804 when his compact auto was in collision with a tractor-trailer operated by John Lewis Reaves Jr. of Irving. The tractor-trailer was owned by the National Casket company, and was headed west at the time of the mishap. The accident was investigated by Officer Paul Clanton Jr. and occurred at 3:05 p.m. Friday.
Funeral services for Reynolds are set at 4 p.m. Saturday in the Chapel of Hassell & Foster Funeral Home, with burial in Oak Lawn Memorial Park near here.
He was a native of Henderson County, and had resided in the New York community all his life. He was a retired farmer, and a member of the Baxter Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Helen Reynolds; five sons, John Reynolds, Weldon Reynolds, Kenneth Reynolds, all of Irving; Jack Reynolds and Hugh Reynolds, both of Athens; a daughter, Mrs. Colleen Flint of Kaufman; two brothers. Jim Hogg Reynolds of LaRue and G. W. Reynolds of Hanford, Calif.; two sisters. Mrs. Johnnie Dingler of LaRue and Mrs. Ada Ray of Hobbs, N.M.; 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
