Gralie Joe Stephens
Gralie Joe Stephens, age 80, of Webb City, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, November 4, 2009, in Freeman West Hospital, Joplin, Missouri.
He was born May 3, 1929, in Washburn, Missouri, the son of Dan and Margaret (Pendergraft) Stephens. On April 9, 1960, in Miami, Oklahoma, he was united in marriage to Joyce Darlene Antle, who survives. He is also survived by two sons, Jim Stephens of Adrian, Missouri and Danny Stephens and his wife, Angie of Freeman, Missouri; two daughters, Nancy Boyd and her husband, Stan of Cassville, Missouri and Joyce Burke and her husband, David of Raymore, Missouri; three grandchildren, Shane Boyd, Emily Stephens and Kris Cornelius and three great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers, Elmer, John, Leon, Ivan, Onza and Vernon Stephens; three sisters, Vesta Weathers, Emily Privett, Avo Shannon and Thelma Anderson and one grandson, Jimmy Stephens.
Joe, as most people knew him, received his education at Washburn. Around 1960 he moved to Drexel, Missouri, where he was a self-employed logger and saw miller. Fourteen years ago he retired to Webb City to make his home. He was a member of Central Christian Center, Joplin.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Saturday, November 7, 2009, in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Pastor Hank Deslatte and Pastor Doug Wilkerson will conduct the services. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery, Exeter.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 until service time Saturday in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville.
