Velma Wamsley, 80, Found Dead of Natural Causes

A resident of Poneto Route 1, Mrs. Velma Catherine Wamsley, 80, was found dead at her home at 1:40 p.m. Monday by Mrs. Sharon Piqune.

Mrs. Piqune had gone to the Wamsley home to mow the lawn. Coroner Joe Greene ruled death as natural causes. Mrs. Wamsley had been in failing health several years.

Born Jan. 27, 1902 in Chester Twp., Wells County, she was a daughter of Oloff Frank and Amy Alice Jones White. Her marriage Dec. 23, 1922 in Wells County was to Everett K. Wamsley, who died Nov. 18, 1978.

Mrs. Wamsley was a member of the United Church of Christ in Warren, the Zion Home Demonstration Club and World War II Mothers Unit 85 in Warren.

Surviving are a son, Tom Wamsley of Eaton Rapids, Mich.; two daughters, Mrs. Paul (Betty) Stucky of Napoleon, O., and Mrs. Harry (Lois) Brown of Hartford City; two brothers, Glen White of Montpelier and Ralph White of Poneto; a sister, Mrs. Eva Krinn of Fort Wayne; 17 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 1 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and until services at 2 p.m. Thursday at H. Brown & Son Funeral Home in Warren. David Terhune will officiate.

Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery at Warren.

Preferred memorials are to the United Church of Christ in Warren.
