Jesse L. Sanchez completed his journey in this world on Wednesday, February 18, 2009 and is now rejoicing with his Heavenly Father.
Jesse was born October 4, 1957 to Jesus (Chuey) and Lupe in Los Lunas, New Mexico. Following the untimely death of his father, Jesse's mother relocated to Barstow where he grew up and attended local schools. Jesse graduated from Technical College in San Diego, California after working 5 years for Santa Fe Railroad. After leaving the Railroad and graduating with a technical certification in electronics Jesse worked for several Defense Contractors before going to work for the Federal Government in 1989. He worked 19 years for the Department of Defense, 12 years with the Marine Corps in Barstow, California; and seven years with the Navy in San Diego, California.
Jesse is survived by his wife, Tammy of San Diego; two children, Christy and Jesse Eric; two grandchildren, Michael and Aryanna; his mother Lupe Jaramillo of Barstow; three sisters, Ruthie, Loretta, and Linda; and their spouses, Frank, Dugan, and Duff; two brothers, Tony and Joseph, and their spouses Priscilla and Anna; 13 nieces and nephews; 14 great nieces and nephews; his mother and father in-law Earl and LaVon Rippetoe;, and his brother-in-law Russell. Jesse was preceded in death by his fathers, Jesus (Chuey) Sanchez and Mike Jaramillo; and by his grandparents, Frank (Little Daddy) and Teresa (Mommie) Lucero, and Tomas and Lupita Sanchez.
Jesse's life love and devotion was to his family, second only to his commitment to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Anyone who knew Jesse knew he preferred spending time with his family to anything else, and some of his happiest moments were spent at soccer, softball, and football practices and games with his children and grandchildren.
Jesse was a gentle man that loved the Lord and his family. The strength of his character and what mattered most to him was evident throughout his courageous battle with colon cancer; he stated on many occasion, "if this has to be I am thankful it is me and not any one of my family". He never complained, he was not afraid, his faith was steadfast, he KNEW where he would spend eternity; his single regret in life was having to leave his family.
Jesse's family would like to extend their sincerest thanks to the many family, friends, and colleagues that provided the love, support, prayers, and donations of annual leave, that enabled them to endure this most difficult time; and a very special thanks to those extraordinary people, that did not know Jesse personally but found it in their hearts to extend support in the same ways.
