Byron was the son of Francis and Thankful (Flagg) Strong. He was born in the town of Salisbury VT in 1796. Byron later moved from Vermont to the Eastern Townships of Quebec, where he married Maria Swan in 1822 and settled in Dunham, Missisquoi Co. Byron and Mariah had five children, and lived in Dunham for many years. By the 1860 census, however, the family had re-located to Portage Co, OH, where Byron's brother, Francis Strong had moved many years earlier. Byron remained in Ohio until his death in Geneva in 1865.
