Fritz married Sue Marie Smith on July 2, 1932, in Smith, Pettis County, Missouri. Sue was born September 25, 1911, in Smithton, Pettis County, Missouri, the daughter of Charles Leon and Carrie C. (Page) Smith. Fritz and Sue had the following known children:
1. Shirley Janet (Bolte) Atkin (1935-2008)
2. Ronald Wayne Bolte (1941-1992)
Frtiz was tragically killed in a car accident while returning home from a day fishing trip with a friend on December 1, 1941, in Pettis County, Missouri. After Fritz's death, Marie lived for a while with Fritz's father, John Bolte. She then married Roy Edward Miller and had a son; Roy Edward Miller, Jr. Sue died February 20, 1998, in MIssouri.

Funeral of Fritz Bolte
The funeral services for Fritz Bolte, well known dairy-farmer of near Smithton who was instantly killed last Monday night in an automobile-truck accident three miles east of Smithton, were held at 2:30 o'clock yesterday afternoon at the Smithton Methodist Episcopal church, with the Reverend E. J. Weiss, pastor, officiating.
Pallbearers were the following friends: Richard Monsees, Olen Monsees, Robert Griffin, Skelly Smith, Auren Monsees, and Floyd Fehlessing.
A quartette composed of Mrs. E. J. Weiss, Mrs. Patsy Kahrs, Mrs. Shelly Kahrs and John Daniels. Mrs. Laura Krouse accompanied at the organ.
Interment was in the Smithton cemetery.
