Nuel Gene Kennedy, 72, died Saturday, November 7, 2009, at Hillcrest Nursing Home in Magee. He was born January 8, 1937, to Elton and Marzell Runnels Kennedy.

Visitation was Monday, November 9, and funeral services were Tuesday, November 10, at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Magee, with burial in Sharon Cemetery. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home (601)849-5031 in Magee handled the arrangements.

Nuel Gene was retired Military, where he served in the Special Forces, and also retired from Illinois Central Rail Road. Nuel Gene was a member of Eastside Baptist Church in Magee and he loved race cars and races.

Nuel Gene is survived by his wife of 52 years, Bonnie Walker Kennedy; daughter and son-in-law, Shellie and Mike Smith of Byram, MS; grandchildren, Ryan Walker Smith and Spencer Jay Smith; and brother, Elton Ansel Kennedy of Magee.

He was preceded in death his parents, Elton and Marzell Kennedy, and one brother W. D. Kennedy.
