Norman was the father of John McLean Rushing who he is buried beside. Norman's parents: Father - John Berrian Rushing, b. 1810; d. 1894; and mother - Faithie Ann Ellen Burnside b. 1818; d. 1864. Both of them are buried in the family plot (not proven-but believed to be true) located in Bulloch Co., GA.

Norman's first wife, who was John's mother, was FNU Kicklighter who he married about 1900.

Isabel, a researcher and contributor sent me a note. Her words are in quotes. All other information comes from my own research.

"Norman W. Rushing's first wife was Mary E. Jones, the widow of Thomas B. Neville." Mary was b. 12 Jul 1838 in Georgia and died 12 Dec 1927 and is buried in the Lower Lotts Creek Cemetery in Bulloch Co., GA. They were married on 31 Oct 1872 in Bulloch Co., GA. Note: Her first husband was Thomas B. Neville b. 12 Mar 1808 in Bulloch Co., GA. They were married 14 Sep 1859 in Bulloch Co., GA. This will help establish a timeline to verify dates. Thomas had been married before, so Mary was Thomas's second wife. She was the daughter of William M. Jones and Nancy M. Hendricks, both of whom were born in Tattnall Co., GA. NOTE: Thomas B. Neville is buried in the Peter Neville Cemetery in Bulloch Co., GA.

"Norman's second wife was Lora Penelope Elders, who first was married to Eben Kicklighter (1876-1946) on 18 Jan 1894. He was gone by 1900. Lora is listed as single and she and her two daughters were living with her parents, Aaron Melton Elders and Mary Ann Elizabeth Smith. In 1910, Norman and Lora Rushing are living in Tattnall County, GA with her two daughters (who were Kicklighter's) and son John Rushing. Lora cannot be located after 1920." Isabel believes she may have remarried.

I hope this is clearer to you.
