He married Frances Rejetta Walters on January 21, 1883 in Hart County, Georgia.
Their children were: Waco Cato, Thomas Francis, Jasper Lee, Walter Ecco, Eula Elizabeth, Delrey Rejetta, Jewell Elee and Dollye Walters Estes.

Well Known Hart County Pastor Answers Summons - Was Confederate Veteran
Rev. F. M. Estes, 80 years old citizen of the Reed Creek community of Hart County, Ga., and well known throughout this section, died on Saturday evening last at his home. Death was due to paralysis, it was stated.
Rev. Estes' life was as useful as it was long and besides wide family connections, he leaves a large number of friends who mourn his passage. He was a Confederate Veteran.
Rev. Estes was born in Hart County January 7, 1847 and spent most of his life in that section of Georgia. Being a Baptist minister, he served for years as pastor of Reed Creek and many other churches in Hart and other counties in Georgia. He also served several churches in Anderson County at one time, among them being Double Springs near Townville.
He is survived by his widow, who before marriage was Miss Fanny Walters, and the following sons and daughters: W. C. Estes of Greenville; Mrs. V. E. Caudle of Anderson; W. E. Estes of Hart County; Mrs. P. N. O'Barr of Hart County; and Misses Jewel and Dollye Estes of Hart County.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Reed Creek church, conducted by Rev. Mr. Smith. Hosts of Rev. Estes' friends attended the funeral to render a final tribute of respect to his memory. The body was laid to rest in the Reed Creek cemetery.
