Thomas C. Mortimer, 74, at 1745 Dixie Drive, died Wednesday at the St. Johns
Hospital, Joplin, Mo. after an illness of one week.
Mr. Mortimer was a native of Montgomery County, and had lived in Jackson for
several years. He had been in Joplin for the past three months. He was a member
of the Calvary Baptist Church, Jackson Senior Citizens Club and the Railway Mail
Clerks Association. He was a retired mail clerk with the Railway U. S. Post
Office Department and a veteran of World War I.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Loretta Mortimer of Jackson; one son Thomas
Mortimer of Albuquerque, New Mexico; one daughter, Mrs. Charles R. Nix of
Joplin, Mo.; one brother, George Mortimer of Winona, one sister, Mrs. J. P.
Durham of Durant; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 26 from the Baldwin Funeral Home
Chapel, with interment in Jackson Memorial Gardens.
