Motor Machinist Mate Carl Henry Gerbensky, third class, father of Chester Gerbensky, Hartland, has been reported missing in action. Formerly a member of the Wisconsin National Guard, Company L, Oconamowoc, he received a medical discharge after a year's service. He enlisted in the army, and after receiving a medical discharge there enlisted in the navy, where he was serving when declared missing. (Waukesha Freeman August 2 1944) Notes from Randy Carl enlisted in the Army with his son Chester in 1940, and was given an honorable discharge when he reached the age limit for service. In January of 1944 he enlisted in the Navy with the hope of being near his son, who was serving in the South Pacific. Information by Paul Wittmer.
