Harry Lee Downey, 76, of Clovis, NM, died November 10, 2009, at Plains Regional Medical Center. He was born March 19, 1933, to Everett and Gertrude Downey, in St. Vrain, NM.

He attended school in Melrose where he drove a school bus during his Jr. and Sr. year. He was a gifted athlete and graduated in 1951. After graduation, he served in the U.S. Army where he saw action in Korea from 1952 - 1954. After returning he married Nadine Runyan on Aug. 15, 1954. They were married for 55 years. To this union, four children were born. He was a lifelong farmer and rancher in the McAlister, NM area. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Clovis. He has been active as a Rotarian, Booster Club, SW Quay Conservation, Quay Co Farmer's Home Administration member, and served on various church boards.

He had a love for all sports which he passed down to his children and grandchildren. He loved to fish. Harry enjoyed many things, but the relationships that were the most meaningful were with his family and his many friends, both old and new.

He is survived by his wife, Nadine of the home in Clovis; 3 daughters, Kathy Jennings of Portales, NM, Christy Downey of Clovis and Karen Roper (Tommy) of Perkins, OK; 1 son, Craig Downey (Karen Kay) of McAlister, NM; 12 grandchildren, Angela Miller (Michael) of Dumas, TX, Melody Vice (Clint) of Edmond, OK, Jordan Jennings (Raven) of Hulbert, OK, Calvin Downey (Lisa) of McAlister, Preston Downey (Lonee) of St. Vrain, Liberty Beaulieu (Jay) of Tallahassee, FL, Charity Sena (Phil) of Melrose, NM, Bethanie Baker (Evan) of Clovis, Shad DeFoor of Clovis, Crystal Marshall (Jake) of Perkins, OK, Autumn Campbell (Todd) of Stillwater, OK and Summer Pittman (Ryan) of Tulsa, OK; 21 great grandchildren; brothers, Russell Downey of Clovis, Lester Downey of Aztec, NM and Clifford Downey of Carlsbad, NM and sisters, Bess Hunton of Clovis and Jo Hughes of Texico, NM.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 brother Alvin Downey; 2 brothers-in-law, Bruce Runyan and Keith Runyan; several nephews and his father-in-law & mother-in-law, Roscoe & May Runyan.

Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 14, 2009, at First United Methodist Church in Clovis with Rev. Danny Sanders officiating. Burial will be at 2:00 p.m. at Browning Cemetery in Quay County, New Mexico.

Casket bearers will be Calvin Downey, Preston Downey, Shad DeFoor, Jordan Jennings, Michael Miller, Clint Vice, Jake Marshall, Todd Campbell, Evan Baker, Ryan Pittman, Jay Beaulieu and Phil Sena. Honorary casket bearers will be his faithful friends and family.
