Leland “Hap” A. Johnson, 88, of Rice Lake died Feb. 28 at Lakeview Medical Center. Funeral services are Thursday at 11 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church of Brill, with the Rev. Iler Anderson officiating and interment at Bohemian National Cemetery at Haugen. Visitation is this Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. at Appleyard's and Thursday at the church before the service.
Mr. Johnson was born Dec. 7, 1916 in Rice Lake to Alfred and Anna (Kertine) Johnson. He lived on the family dairy farm in the Town of Oak Grove all of his life and also worked at the gravel pit in Haugen for several years, Birchwood Manufacturing in Rice Lake, as a custodian for Rice Lake School District and doing roadwork for WPA. He married Camilla Hyllested on Oct. 19, 1940 and enjoyed hunting and playing cards.
He is survived by his wife Camilla; six sons, Ronald of Plymouth, Minn., Gary and Kim, both of Rice Lake, Dean of Circle Pines, Minn., Lane of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and John of Sarona; 12 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and a brother, Vernon of Sarona.
