On November 23, 1818, he bought five acres of land near Muddy Creek, east of Palmira (now Mason, Ohio) for $150. On July 26, 1834, he purchased five acres of land from his daughter Hannah Gaylord for $450. It was located on the Cincinnati-Lebanon Pike.
Orginally buried at "the cemetery in the Village" and later moved to Rose Hill Cemetery.
