LYNDHURST-W. Martin Dodd, 76, of Route 1, Box 170, died Saturday morning (April 15) in Waynesboro Community Hospital. He was born in Nelson County on April 5, 1913, a son of Celburn Woodie and Nellie Ramsey Dodd.
He retired in May 1975 from the Waynesboro Dupont Co. after 33 years of service. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Waynesboro.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Josephine C. Dodd; one son, William E. Dodd of Staunton; three daughters, Mrs. Sheldon (Patsy) Eye of Waynesboro, Mrs. Larry (Joyce) Robertson of Fayetteville, N. C. and Mrs. Leslie (Barbara) Ramsey of Lyndhurst; one sister, Mrs. Sue Coffey of Beech Grove; one brother, Layman Dodd of Beech Grove; and four grandchildren, Michael Robertson of Vienna, Teresa Hebb and Gregory Eye of Waynesboro and Karen Robertson of Fayetteville.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Charlotte Dodd.
A service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Waynesboro chapel of Etter Funeral Home, conducted by Dr. Donald W. Retzer, the Rev. Richard A. Koster, and the Rev. Eldon R. Brydge, with burial in the Beech Grove Christian Church cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Keith Dodd, David Dodd, Wendell Dodd, Wayne Patrick, Donald Perry, Clark Campbell, Pat Coffey and Paul A. Coffey.
Honorary pallbearers will be Tim Hebb, Dr. Thomas L. Gorsuch, Chester Campbell, Guy D. Cooke, Gary Mitchell, Page Anderson, Kenneth Dunn, George Barksdale and Garnett Falls.
The family requests that contributions be made to the Waynesboro First Aid Crew.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
