Madame Lavoisier was the wife of the chemist and nobleman Antoine Lavoisier, and acted as his laboratory companion and contributed to his work. She played a pivotal role in the translation of several scientific works, and was instrumental to the standardization of the scientific method.

Décédée à Paris le 10 Février 1836.
Par son esprit et ses lumières, elle fut digne des
deux illustres savans aux quels elle unit son sort.
Elle partagea les travaux et la science de Lavoisier,
l'amour de l'humanité qui animait Rumford.
La mort la surprit au milieu d'amis illustres
dont elle était le lien, et qui pleureront long-temps sa mémoire.
