Mrs. Gramling died Saturday, Sept. 28, at a Charleston hospital.

She was born Sept. 13, 1926, in Blackville, a daughter of William Samuel Guess Sr. and Annie Lou Collins Guess. After graduating from high school in Blackville, she attended Winthrop College and graduated from Columbia College in 1947 with a degree in Education. She taught elementary school in Central, Myrtle Beach, and Moncks Corner. She was a faithful, active member, Sunday School teacher, and youth leader at the First United Methodist Church in Myrtle Beach from 1950-1965. She volunteered for the Lions Club with the Sun Fun Parade and Sun Fun Festival Police and served as a Cub Scout Leader. After moving to Moncks Corner in 1965, she was a faithful, active member, Sunday School teacher, and wedding director of the Moncks Corner United Methodist Church, as well as a member of the Seavy Carroll Circle of United Methodist Women. She served as a member of the Berkeley County Columbia College Club, the first Berkeley County Zoning Committee, the Berkeley County Voting Poll Workers, Berkeley Museum, and the Berkeley County Cancer Society R.A.T. Ball.

Sara Lee was a kind, true Christian woman who generously loved her family, church, friends and community. Always with love and laughter, she enjoyed cooking; entertaining family and friends; fishing for rockfish, knitting dishcloths, making angels, arts and crafts; decorating and arranging flowers for holidays, church and community events. Although she will be sadly missed, she will always be remembered as a center piece of strength, happily and selflessly giving of her time and talents to anyone in need.

She was preceded in death by a son in 1994, Clarence Dennis Gramling of Moncks Corner.

Survivors include her husband, Clarence S. Gramling, of 56 years, of Moncks Corner; daughter, Martha Ann Gramling Taylor Stuckey and her husband, Dexter Lee Stuckey Jr. of Mount Pleasant; son, Steven Guess Gramling and wife, Peggy Ann McQuown Gramling of Moncks Corner; two sisters, Martha Caughman (the late Archie Caughman) of Sumter, Mae (G.W.)
