Jemima Seeley was born in Wisconsin in 1841. She married Thomas Carter on March 6, 1867. Six children were born of this union:

From a news report in The Illinois State Journal (Springfield, IL) published on Thursday, January 10, 1924:

"Greenfield [IL], Jan. 9 – The remains of Mrs. [Jemima] S. Carter were brought here from Beloit, Wis., Tuesday for interment in the Oakwood cemetery.

The decedent was 82 years old and was for many years a resident of this place. She is survived by two daughters and two sons…"
