Fred McGee 91, of Morganton passed away Wednesday November 4, 2009 at Grace Memorial Hospital. A native of Mitchell County he was the son of the late Charles Walton and Ester Boyd McGee. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Clay, Clarence and Ted and sisters, Pearl, Missouri and Marie. He was a U.S.Navy veteran of World War II and was retired from Great Lakes Carbon Corp., in Morganton.
Survivors include his wife Helen Parsley McGee, son David Howell McGee of Lynchburg, VA, sisters Minnie Hoilman of Little Switzerland and Elva McGee of Greensboro.
