John E. Horstmann, 71 Ackley, Minnesota passed away on October 8, 1964 at St. Joseph's Hospital, Park Rapids.
Funeral services were held on Monday, October 12, at 2:00 p.m. at the First Lutheran Church in Ackley, Reverend C. T. Hanson conducted the services. The organist was Mrs. Leander and soloists was Emil Benson who sang " How Great Thou Art". Pallbearers were Clarence Berg, Otto Lennberg, Marvin Richmond, Carl Poncelet, John Miller and James Hudson. Honorary pallbearers were Brice Thomas, Harry Lennberg, Glenn Gitchel, B. H. Wambolt, Henry Dippoid. Interment was in the Ackley Cemetery.
Mr. Horstman was born August 20, 1893 at Calumet, Iowa to Ernest and Marguerite Horstmann. He was married on October 27, 1927 to Anna Marie Guzmann in South Dakota.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Iva Nelson of Primghar, Iowa; one stepdaughter Mrs. Anita Shaw of Galeta, California and two stepsons, Otto Gutzmann Alameda, California and Herbert Gutzmann of Long Island, New York; two sisters, Dora Dau and Vena Oeffner and one brother Henry Horstmann.
Those attending the funeral from a distance were Mr. And Mrs. George Dau, Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Dau, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Horstmann, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Rohlfsen, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Nelson, Mrs. Jake Ginger, Henry Horstmann, Mrs. Eldon Horstmann and Mrs. Jake Ginger. Funeral arrangements were in charge of the Jones funeral Chapel Park Rapids.
