Charles William Gustin, son of Edward Scott and Louisa F. Gustin, was born June 7th, 1847 and went Home to Heaven, December 16, 1929, aged 83 years, 6 months and 9 days.
When only 17 years old he enlisted in the Service of his Country, during the Dark and Bloody days of the Civil War, and served until the close of the War, and when 16 years old, he enlisted under the Blood Stained Banner of King Jesus, and remained a true and faithful soldier during a long and useful life, and when his earthly Sun was sinking in the West, he had a vision of the beautiful Home, to which he was fast approaching, and told us of the glories of the Home, and that Jesus was waiting for him at the Portals, and on Sunday afternoon, before he ceased to talk, he told his loving wife it would only be a short time, and we both would be together in that beautiful Home never to be parted, but to dwell with Jesus evermore.
He was united in marriage to Cyrene Ann Lyon, February 22nd, 1869, almost 61 years ago, and lived a long and happy life together. They were the parents of seven children, all living grand children, also one brother, Nicholas.
His other three brothers having passed on. Brother John died almost three years ago. Brother Thomas the 18th of last March, and brother Edward in July 1929, three passing away in nine months time. He also leaves many cousins, friends and neighbors, that loved him in life, and will miss him, when he is gone.
Funeral services were conducted from the M. E. church at Louisville, near his home, by Rev. Tuttle and our pastor Rev. Robbins, after which he was laid to rest in the cemetery near his home.o
