Vera Schafer
COLORADO CITY -- Vera Schafer, 78, lifelong Mitchell County resident, died Wednesday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 4 p.m. today in Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Sammy Elliott officiating. Burial will be in Colorado City Cemetery, directed by Kiker-Seale Funeral Home.
Mrs. Schafer was born in Mitchell County and worked in the Colorado City school cafeteria for many years. She also was a longtime nursery worker at Calvary Baptist Church and was the widow of Cecil Schafer, whom she married in 1934 in Westbrook.
Survivors include one daughter, Billie Ruffin of Colorado City; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
