Beecher City - Lemuel Lilly, 90, of Beecher City died at 8:15am, Sunday, Dec. 7, 1986, at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

The funeral will be at 1pm, Wednesday at Lockart and Sons Funeral Home, Beecher City, with burial in Spring Hill Cemetery, near Beecher City. Visitation will be from 5 to 8pm Tuesday.

Mr. Lilly was born April 3, 1896, in Fayette County, the son of Henry and Rachel E. (Scull[e]y) Lilly. He married Wreatha Goldie Bartimus in 1919.

He was a charter member of the Okaw Valley Muzzle Loading Club, a member of the Roland-Weakley American Legion Post 402 of St. Elmo and VFW Post 7676 of Altamont, and a veteran of World War I.

Surviving are his wife, sons, Duane of Beecher City, J.R. of Tower Hill; daughters, Mrs. Earl (Lois) Himes of St. Elmo, Bernice Wright of Sigel, Mary Lewis of Beecher City, Mrs. Albert (Betty) Kruzan of Harvard; brothers, Robert of Beecher City, Spurgeon of Mount Zion; sister, Josephine Long of Keyesport; 17 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.
