THOMAS V. MAY
Thomas V. May, son of James M. and Susan May, was born in Indiana, July 1, 1858, and came to Iowa with his parents when just a small boy. They located near Columbia where he lived most of his life. He passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Leota Pearson, in Oklahoma City, on June 11, 1957, at the age of 98 years, 11 months and 11 days.
He was united in marriage to Celestine Taylor and to this union four children were born: Charles, Susan Anna, George and Leota.
Mr. May was a member of the Oakdale Methodist church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Celestine, and two sons, Charles and George.
In 1932 he married Martha Welch, who also preceded him in death. Since then he made his home with his children.
He leaves to mourn his passing two children, Susan Anna Crandall, of Chariton, and Leota Pearson, of Oklahoma City, stepson, Sheldon Welch, of Winterset, nine grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, June 15, 1957 from the Columbia Methodist church at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Lee Hutchison and the Rev. Carroll Robinson officiating. Interment was in Oakdale cemetery.
