Allen Merrill Kirk, 76, died Sunday at his home near Oakland Mills. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church. Rev. Virgil Fry and Rev. Darryl Erickson will officiate. Interment will be in Green Mound Cemetery under the direction of Beatty Funeral Home. He was born on February 16, 1917 in Ottumwa, the son of William Alvin and Jessie (Carver) Kirk. On April 19, 1941, he married Mildred Evelyn Smith in Kahoka, Missouri. He served in the Army during World War II. He was a retired paint contractor. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Karen Kirk; his parents; his brothers, Neal Alvin Kirk and Norlan Kirk; and his sister, Wanda Lucille Schramm. He is survived by his wife; his children, Merrill Allen Kirk of Dallas, Texas and Linda Wilson of Grandview; his sisters, Annona Jones of Santa Barbara, California, Lorraine Barton of Fairfield; his half sister, Betty Jane Brooks of Grants Pass, Oregon; and five grandchildren.
