At the age of 82 years Peter Quint passed away last Tuesday evening at 7:30 after a lingering illness of several years. Mr. Quint was one of the pioneers of Herzog. He came to the United States in 1875 being a member of the first contingent of German Russians who came to America. He landed in Topeka, Kas. in October, 1875. He remained there until April 1876, when he settled on a homestead northwest of Herzog. Mr. Quint was a very successful farmer and stock raiser. His special delight being thoroughbred horses of which he always kept some. He was buried in the Herzog cemetery Thursday, August 21, 1913. (County News--Saturday, August 23, 1913)
