CORINE E. MILLER
Corine E. Miller, 101, Lawson, Mo., formerly of Nevada, died Tuesday morning, Jan. 27, 1998, at her granddaughter's home in Lawson, Mo., following an illness of several weeks. She was born on July 11, 1896, in Metz, to Garret Henry Summers and Luella Pearl (Hart) Summers.
She married James Homer Miller on December 25, 1916, in Bronson, Kan. He died in 1968.
Others preceding her in death included three children, R. G. Miller, Frances Pearson and Max Miller; and two sisters, Frances Akers and Alta Ellis.
Mrs. Miller was born in Metz and reared in Vernon County and spent virtually her entire lifetime here. She was employed by the Nevada school system, retiring in 1967. In later years, she served as a care giver for not only the elderly and children. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Nevada; a member of the Order of Eastern Star; White Shrine; Rebekah's; sponsor of Rainbows; and Women's Guild of the First Christian Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Maxine Chance, Lawson; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and four [great] great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Friday, 2 p.m., at Ferry Funeral Home; burial in Newton Burial Park, Nevada. The Rev. Mike Polo will officiate.
Friends may call until the hour of service, and family receives friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Ferry Chapel. The family may be contacted at the home of Frances Workman, Nevada.
