SOUTH PARIS - Owen H. Bridgham, a retired Bangor and Aroostook Railroad executive, died Oct. 20, 2009, at the Maine Veterans' Home, South Paris. He was born March 1, 1926, in Machias, the son of Carl and Florence Maynard Bridgham.

Owen attended the U.S. Military Academy and received a Bachelor of Science degree from Boston University and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Maine.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1944 to 1947, and the U.S. Army Reserve for 20 years, where he retired as a major.

Owen began his railroad career as a statistical clerk. He was later manager of research, administrative assistant to the president and vice president of finance. He retired as vice president in 1985. He had a wry sense of humor, and is remembered by his railroad colleagues and in the financial community as generous with his skills and his time.

Owen is survived by his wife of 33 years, Ann Phelan Bridgham.

A military burial service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, at Riverside Cemetery Annex, South Paris. (Bangor Daily News 11/7/2009)
