HARSLEY COE
Harsley Coe, lifetime resident of Union County, was born at Clark's Creek July 14, 1914. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Coe who preceded him in death. Coe died at a local hospital Sept. 11 following an extended illness. For the past several years, he with his family, made his home in Imbler.
Coe, a prominent farmer, was voted Soil Conservation Man of the Year for Union County in 1955. The presentation was made by the Oregonian and Oregon Wheat Growers League. He was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 67 AF & AM, Elgin; Blue Mountain Chapter, no. 52; Order of Eastern Star of Elgin, and Elks Lodge No. 433, La Grande.
Funeral services will be held at the LDS church in Elgin, Thursday, Sept. 14 at 2 p.m. Bishop Elmer Perry will officiate and interment will be at the Summerville Cemetery.
Coe is survived by his wife, Mildred of Imbler; two sons, Nathan Coe, Umatilla and Kenneth Coe, Elgin; two step-sons, Bruce and Rodney Coe of Imbler; his mother, Mrs. Grace Crewdson, Heppner; three sisters, Minnie Wilson, Warrenton and Dorothy Ault and Genevieve Taylor, Portland; two brothers, Lyle Coe, Milton-Freewater and Bill Coe, Elgin; one half-sister, Hattie Wadell, Hermiston; and one grand-daughter.
Arrangements are under the auspices of Crippin and Daniels Funeral Chapel.
