Evelyn Gertrude Petersen, one of six children of Herman Monty Troudt and Bessie Edna Hofmeister, was born on a farm in Jewell County, Kansas, near Burr Oak on November 29, 1926. She passed away on Saturday, August 14, 1993, at Brodstone Memorial Nuckolls County Hospital in Superior, Nebraska, at the age of 66 years, 8 months and 16 days.

Her education was received from rural schools in Burr Oak, Kansas, Kearney and Bostwick, Nebraska. She finished her primary education at Bostwick and her high school education in Superior. After school she began work which included switchboard operator for the telephone company, cafe work, Superior hospital employee and helped her husband as a farm wife.

On April 26, 1946, in Mankato, Kansas, she was married to Keith I. Petersen. They farmed near Hardy and Bostwick and lived in other communities, Superior, McCool Junction, York and the last six years in Superior.

She was a past member and active in the Abdal Club and 4-H. Her hobbies included needlework, letter writing, reading and she will be remembered by her very neat penmanship.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Keith; and three brothers, Donald, Doyle and Loren Troudt.

Survivors include three daughters, Radonda Rakestraw of Bethesda, Maryland, Leeann Petersen of Superior, Nebraska, and Larenda Petersen of Colorado Springs, Colorado; one son, Dale Petersen and his wife Antoinette of Pauline, Nebraska; one sister, Dorothy Sykes and her husband, Joe, of Superior; one brother, Melvin Troudt and his wife Donna, of Guide Rock, Nebraska; four grandchildren, two great grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 17, 1993, at 2 p.m. from the Megrue-Price Funeral Home Chapel in Superior, Nebraska, with Danny Jackson officiating. Music was provided by Carol Chambaugh singing "The Old Rugged Cross", "Beyond the Sunset" and "One Day at a Time", with Carlita Price as organist and accompanist. Honorary pallbearers were Jim Sykes, Jerry Sykes, Tom Troudt, Larry Troudt, Phil Troudt and Les Troudt. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery, Superior, Nebraska, at a later date. Megrue-Price Funeral Home of Superior, Nebraska, was in charge of the arrangements.
