HENRY RACETTE
Funeral services were held September 18 at 10 a.m. at St. Michael's Catholic church in Milroy for Henry Sidney Racette. The Rev. Michael O'Connor officiated. The church choir, with Mrs. David Snyder as organist, sang the Requiem High Mass. Mr. Racette, 74, passed away September 15, at 2:45 p.m. at the Weiner Memorial hospital in Marshall where he had been since August 31 when he suffered a stroke. Interment was in St. Michael's cemetery near Milroy. Pall bearers were John Dolan, John Welu, Michael Klein, Frank Ousky, Lyle Kramer and Edward Shanley, all of Milroy. Henry Sidney Racette was born March 24, 1889 at Vancouver, Wash., the son of Paul and Louise Racette. His early childhood was spent in Oregon, Colorado and Wyoming, later coming to Minnesota in 1903. On January 14, 1920 he was united in marriage to Catherine Reed at Sanish, N. D. Following their marriage they lived one year at Green Valley, Minn., and then moved to the Lucan community where he was engaged in farming for six years. At that time they moved near Milroy to continue farming until 1936. When he retired from farming he was employed by the Redwood County Highway Department. Preceding him in death were his parents, one brother, Fred; one sister Mrs. Josephine LeMoine, and one grandson, Randy Racette. Survivors include his wife, of Milroy; one daughter, Mrs. Ed (Mary Louise) Maroney of Milroy; two sons, Henry Racette Jr. of Green Valley and Virgil Racette of Montevideo; and twelve grand-children.
