Alex was born the youngest son of Benjamin & Mary Kerr Woolstencroft. He was born in Giard Township & spent his boyhood days on the farm in Clayton County, moving to Murray County, Minnesota in the spring of 1869 where he located a homestead on Section 34 of Belfast Township. Alex owned this homestead until 1929. Alex was married to Harriet Latisha Snyder on July 17, 1879 & they moved to Fulda in the spring of 1881 which is where they lived for many years except the winter months he spent in the south, sometimes with his family & sometimes alone. He was a professional dog trainer & his occupation called him away from home a great part of the time until 1919 when his health would not stand the strain. He retired & since then has divided his time between his daughters' homes at Fulda & Worthington having no permanent residence.

Alex's health had been considered critical for the past three weeks and pneumonia complicated his illness so that physicians held out no hope for his recovery.

Alex was a member of Fulda Lodge #170 AF & AM; Fulda Lodge #206 I.O.O.F.; the Living Arch Chapter 28; the Royal Arch Masons; Worthington Encampment #13 I.O.O.F.; & the Knights of Pythias of Worthington.

The remains were brought from Worthington to the home of James W. Woolstencroft and funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon.

Alex & Harriet were the parents of: Edith Eakes of Sioux City, IA; & Laney Ewert of Mankato, MN; David S. Woolstencroft of Phoenix, AZ.

Alex & Harriet divorced between 1910 & 1920.

Alex's siblings include James W & Benjamin W.
