Nancy was probably born between 1834 and 1837 (the records vary), probably in Washington County, the daughter of Samuel and Mary (Boyer) Boyer. She married Elijah T. Townsend, son of Joseph and Nancy (Flack) Townsend, in 1858.

Nancy and Elijah settled on his parents' farm in Peters Township, Washington County, and had three known children:

(1) Anna M. Boyer
______ married David F. Templeton
(2) Robert F. Townsend (1864-1939)
______ operated his parents' farm
(3) Joseph Boyer Townsend (1873-1936)
______ married Laura Hazzard
______ and moved to Houston, TX

In the 1910 US census, Nancy and Elijah were living on the farm in Peters Township, and I believe that she died there.
