Andrew Strain, Jr. is the son of Revolutionary War veteran Andrew Strain, Sr. (ca. 1750-1826) and Mary (1741-1841). He was married to Nancy Kidd (1799-1887), daughter of Revolutionary War veteran John Kidd (ca. 1758-16 Jul 1848) and Catherine Ballard (ca. 1756-28 Nov. 1849) around 1817 in North Carolina. Andrew, Jr. lived in Iredell County, NC, Burke County, NC, Macon Co., NC, Lincoln Co., NC, and Catawba Co., NC. He then removed to Anderson Co., SC where he had a 150 acre farm bordering on the Saluda River. He also owned a vacant city lot in the town of Greenville. His will was probated in Greenville, Greenville Co., SC. The stone placed in this cemetery is a memorial to him since his grave location in SC has never been found. He and Nancy had five children:
1. William Lee Strain (1818-1896) m.(1) Elizabeth Bandy; m.(2) Margaret Ellen Harris (Ray).
2. Mary Catherine Strain (1821-ca. 1915) m. Noah Ferguson (ca. 1819-ca. 1890)
3. Martha Jane Strain (1824-1890) m.(1) James Wood Lipscomb (1801-1856); m.(2) Benjamin Franklin Grice (1830-1865)
4. Margaret Amanda Strain (1830-1904) m. William Willaims (1824-1884)
5. Nancy Adoline Strain (1833-1917) m. Wiley Stephens (1847-1916)
