MT. PLEASANT - Viola Elizabeth Hansen Mower, 89, died January 1, 1999, at the Sanpete Valley Hospital from natural causes attendant with age.

Viola was the 13th child born to Christen and Ida Marie Larsen Hansen, Danish immigrants.

She was born March 3, 1909, in Mt. Pleasant where she attended school.

On December 29, 1927, Viola married Roland Grant Mower of Oakcreek, Utah.

She and Roland were residents of Fairview their entire lives.

She was an excellent wife, homemaker, and mother of four children.

During World War II she supported the war effort by working in the Manti parachute plant.

In 1946 she began working at Fred's Cafe when it opened on Fairviews Main Street.

When Fred Anderson opened his new Cafe, she continued working for him.

In 1974, when Fred closed the cafe, she retired to dedicate herself to her husband and their growing extended family.

Mother worked in various organizations of the LDS Church, sang in the choir, and sang with duets and quartets in Fairview.

She and Dad became Temple workers in the Manti LDS Temple.

Viola was preceded in death by her husband, Roland.

They had been married for 65 years.

She is survived by her children, Dr. R.D. (Nona) Mower, Mt. Pleasant, Utah; Mrs. Merril Dee (Lynne) Jensen, Fairview; Mrs. Dale E. (Sheril) Muir, Seneca, SC; Mrs. Ralph (Emily) Lillie, South Jordan; 20 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, January 5, 1999, 11 a.m. at the Fairview 2nd-3rd Ward LDS Chapel.

Friends may call at Ursenbach Funeral Home, Monday, 6 to 7:30 p.m. or at the ward chapel 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services.

Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery.
