John Lee DeWester died suddenly at his home in Rock Springs, Wyoming on May 31, 1935, following a sudden heart attack which resulted from an illness that had kept him bedridden since January 4, 1935. John was born on June 11, 1868, in Wayne county, Indiana.

John came to Rock Springs in 1886 and had lived here since that time. He followed the trade of painter and paper hanger. On May 19, 1904, he married Mary Milburn

In addition to his wife, he is survived by six children: Isobel Baxter, Martha, Irene and Marie DeWester and Archie and Joseph DeWester; three brothers, Frank DeWester, Tacoma, WA; Jack DeWester, Benklemann, NE; and Fred DeWester, Alliance, NE; one sister, Hattie Anderson, Little Rock, WA; and three grandchildren also survive.
